About
Anchorage Yoga
In our classes, we celebrate diversity and individuality, valuing the uniqueness each person brings to the mat. Anchorage is more than a place; it’s a state of mind. A sanctuary where you can shed the need to conform and explore the depths of your being and your healing. Our classes are a journey of self-discovery, emphasizing that you don’t need to fit into anyone else’s expectations.
With an emphasis on ‘get anchored, stay connected, find the magic,’ we recognize that the practice of yoga extends beyond the physical. It’s about cultivating a sense of steadiness in your mind, body and spirit and staying true to your essence. Our goal is to provide a space where our community becomes a support system, inspiring everyone to embrace their unique journey on and off the mat.
We invite you to move at your own pace, knowing that every moment on the mat is a chance for clarity, growth, and connection. This is a space to show up as you are, to stay curious, and to reconnect with what matters most. Join us on this journey of self-discovery and community. At Anchorage, being anchored is not about holding still, it’s about finding your center, and returning to it again and again.
Brianna MacIsaac
Brianna is the founder and guiding presence behind Anchorage, a yoga space and community where connection, presence, and quiet magic are at the heart of every offering. A certified 500-hour yoga teacher, she brings warmth, honesty, and a deep respect for the healing power of movement, breath, and community. Brianna also holds space for those navigating life’s deeper tides. Yoga has been her anchor through life’s joys and challenges, but it was during one of her deepest sorrows; the loss of her son, that she truly understood its healing power. Through the practice, she found a space to grieve, to feel, and to gently reconnect with herself. It showed her how to move through heartbreak with compassion and presence, and inspired her to create Anchorage as a space where others can find support, stillness, and healing in their own journey. She offers specialized practices in yoga for grief and yoga for addiction recovery, meeting each student with compassion and care. With 3.5 years of sobriety, she brings lived experience along with humility, and hope to these spaces; believing in the power of embodied practice to support healing, resilience, and connection.
Her classes blend the grounding wisdom of Hatha, the fluidity of Vinyasa, the deep rest of Restorative, and the stillness of Meditation, offering students an experience that is both spacious and deeply felt. Whether flowing gently, settling into stillness, or resting in the breath, her teaching invites students to move from a place of presence, not perfection, to soften, to feel, and to come home to themselves. Brianna truly believes yoga is to be experienced on and off the mat. Off the mat, yoga can be lived in the simplest of ways, by breathing with awareness, moving mindfully , and living with compassion and kindness. It is found in quiet gratitude, in trusting your intuition, in rooting yourself in the rhythms of nature. It is honoring rest, seeking balance, and creating meaningful pauses throughout your days. At Anchorage, yoga is not just a practice on the mat, it’s a way of remembering who we are beneath the noise. It’s a space where people can move, rest, laugh, cry, and be fully themselves. Above all, Brianna believes yoga should feel human, heartfelt, and even a little magical.
Off The Mat
Off the mat, Brianna is an ordinary person, a mom who delights in ringing her cow bell at the hockey arenas and bedtime stories, a gardener who finds joy in the slow magic of seeds becoming meals, she loves to be in the kitchen cooking and baking. She loves nothing more than to be sailing on the ocean with her husband or sneaking away for an outdoor adventure. A lover of quiet mornings with a cup of coffee and a book of poetry or a journal. She loves to get her heart rate up with dance and interval training. She believes yoga is not something we leave behind when we roll up the mat; it’s how we breathe through the hard moments, how we listen more deeply, create and uphold boundaries, and how we choose to meet life as it unfolds. She believes in the healing power of community, friendship and Therapeutic Touch.
Her practice shows up when she is laughing with her family and friends, walking amongst the trees or along the shoreline, holding space for others or simply learning to pause before reacting. It’s where the teachings soften from concepts into lived experience, reminding her again and again that presence isn’t a destination, it’s a way of moving through the world. She believes we are all creative, magical beings who deserve the space and time to meet and heal ourselves where we are at, the good, the bad and everything in between.
Our Values
Authenticity
This is the heart of our invitation: come as you are. Authenticity is the quiet courage to show up as yourself, no fixing, no performing. It’s letting your values, your quirks, your truth be seen, just as they are. A soft alignment between how you move through the world and what feels true inside, without carrying the weight of who you think you should be. On your mat and beyond, it’s a practice. A steady, honest return to yourself.
Connection
Connection in this practice is something we build over time, through the body, the breath, and a willingness to pay attention. Yoga gives you space to notice yourself more clearly, and from there, connect in a more honest way, with others and with the world around you. It doesn’t have to be big or profound. It’s a simple return: body, breath, awareness. Over and over. And in that, a sense of steadiness, connection, and belonging starts to take shape.
Community
Community is a big part of this practice. It’s what creates that feeling of belonging, of not doing this alone. Being in a shared space where people are showing up in their own way, but alongside each other. There’s support in that. Encouragement, too, especially on the days it feels harder to arrive. Over time, that shared experience becomes something steady, something you can return to and rely on.
Play
Playfulness is about bringing curiosity and lightness into your practice. Less about getting it right, more about exploring what feels good. Moving, noticing, adjusting, letting it be a bit more free. It’s a shift that turns practice into something you experience, not something you perfect.
